Thumbelina

Thumbelina and lots of fairies stand beneath colourful flowers and grass.

Once upon a time, there was a kind lady who longed for a child of her own. One sunny day in her garden, she saw a beautiful flower fairy sitting on a sunflower.

"Hello! I've never seen anyone like you," said the lady.

The flower fairy smiled. "I can grant you a wish. What would you like?"

"I wish for a little baby," the lady replied.

The flower fairy gave her a magic seed and told her to care for it with love. Soon, a lovely yellow tulip bloomed, and inside it was a tiny girl no bigger than the lady's thumb. The lady named her Thumbelina and loved her dearly.

Thumbelina helped her mother with chores and loved singing while they worked. One night, a frog took her away to live on a lily pad in a pond. Thumbelina didn't like it there, so a friendly fish helped her escape.

She floated to a town of water beetles who teased her, so she drifted away to a sunny field where she spent the summer happily.

When autumn came, a kind field mouse took her in, but then a mole wanted her to live underground. In winter, a swallow rescued her and took her to a warm meadow near his nest.

In the meadow, Thumbelina met the handsome fairy king, and they became best friends. She lived happily with him and other flower fairies.

One day, Thumbelina asked the swallow to take her home. They landed in her garden, where her mother joyfully welcomed her back. Thumbelina told her mother all about her adventures, and they lived happily ever after.
