THE ELVES AND THE SHOEMAKER

Image
Once upon a time, in a quaint village nestled amidst rolling hills, there lived a humble shoemaker and his wife. They were good-hearted folk, known for their honest ways and hard work. However, in recent times, misfortune had befallen them, leaving them with just enough leather to craft one final pair of shoes. The shoemaker sighed heavily as he laid out the last piece of fine leather on his worn workbench. "This will have to do for now," he muttered, his voice tinged with concern. His wife, her face etched with worry, gently placed her hand on his shoulder. "We mustn't lose hope, dear," she said softly. "Let us make a wish tonight, that our fortunes may change." The shoemaker nodded, his eyes reflecting both weariness and determination. "Yes, let's hope our years of hard work finally bring us the reward we deserve," he replied, squeezing her hand gently. That night, under the starlit sky, they clasped hands and whispered their earnest ...

THE FROG PRINCE

Image
Once upon a time, in a castle nestled in a distant land, there lived a very spoiled Princess. She woke up one morning with a gleam of greed in her eye. "Daddy," she said with a pout, "I want a golden ball." The King, who adored his daughter beyond measure, replied, "Of course, my dear. Anything for you!" Summoning his head goldsman, the King commanded, "Melt down our finest golden statue to fashion a ball for the Princess, at once!" "Yes, Your Majesty," the head goldsman replied promptly. Soon, a dazzling golden ball was presented to the Princess. She snatched it eagerly and rushed out to the garden. But in her haste, she stumbled and the ball slipped from her grasp, soaring high into the air before plopping into the middle of the garden pond with a splash. "Oh, bother," muttered the Princess in dismay. Unexpectedly, a voice spoke up from the pond, "Ribbit, ribbit! I can help." The Princess looked around in surpris...

The Missing Unicorn

Image
Luke was obsessed with animals. Every day at school, he couldn't wait for the animal lessons. He'd chatter about everything from aardvarks to zebras. Dinosaurs thrilled him as much as bunnies did. Lions, tigers, deer, and foxes—Luke loved them all. But one day, he realized something strange. There was one animal missing from all his books, zoo visits, and school lessons: a unicorn! "Why aren't unicorns in any books?" Luke wondered aloud. His teacher, overhearing, chuckled. "Unicorns? Oh, they're just make-believe, Luke." Luke's face fell. "But why? With so many amazing animals, why make up something as simple as a horse with a horn?" His dad shrugged. "People just like to imagine things, buddy." Luke wasn't convinced. If his dad didn't have answers, who did? He decided to solve the mystery himself. During a visit to Grammy and Pop-Pop's farm, Luke interrogated the animals. "Do you know about unicorns?" Po...

Princess Hase, a Story of Old Japan

Image
Many centuries ago in Nara, the ancient capital of Japan, there resided a wise statesman named Prince Toyonari Fujiwara and his wife, Princess Murasaki. Despite their happiness together, they were deeply saddened by their inability to have children. They decided to embark on a pilgrimage to the temple of Hase-no-Kwannon, the Goddess of Mercy at Hase, hoping for divine intervention to grant them a child. Their prayers were answered, and Princess Murasaki gave birth to a daughter whom they named Hase-Hime, in honor of Kwannon, whose grace they believed had blessed them with the child they had longed for. Hase-Hime grew up under the loving care of her parents, especially her mother, who instilled in her the values of obedience and kindness. Tragedy struck when Hase-Hime was only five years old, and her mother fell seriously ill. On her deathbed, Princess Murasaki counseled her daughter to be good and obedient, even suggesting that her father might remarry. Despite her mother's passi...
